Advances in UV LED Curing Modules and Inks

The introduction of UV LED curing was initially met with some skepticism. Today, innovations in the technology benefit wide-format printers and more.

Advances in UV LED Curing Modules and InksThe June issue of Printing United Journal features commentary from Excelitas Marketing Manager of Phoseon UV curing solutions Stacy Hoge alongside other industry experts. The article titled, “Advances in UV-LED Curing Modules and Inks,” details the latest innovations in UV curing hardware, inks and varnishes, the benefits these technologies provide to printers, as well as what’s next for industrial inkjet printing.

“Today, all the major brands are requiring their suppliers to deliver more sustainable printing practices,” said Hoge. She explains that the environmental benefits of using UV LED curing in the printing process include energy savings, reduction of waste and the prevention of pollution for users all over the world.

Additionally, she highlighted, “There has never been a better time to invest in UV LED. Upfront costs have come down significantly and UV LED is now on par with a new UV microwave or arc lamp system. Total cost of ownership remains heavily weighted toward UV LED compared to all other curing technologies. And new designs make installation onto existing equipment easier than in years past and offer seamless replacement over time.”
