OmniCure: UV Curing Systems
OmniCure S2000 UV Curing System
Excelitas’ S Series UV curing systems are ideal for precision
adhesive curing in a variety of industries, including electronic
assembly, medical device bonding, and optoelectronics applications. The
OmniCure S Series provides faster, stronger cures of UV adhesives,
which results in superior product quality, rapid production, and lower
manufacturing costs. Excelitas’ innovative design and substantial
UV curing systems expertise goes into each curing machine to provide
peace-of-mind when choosing the most dependable spot curing equipment
available in the industry.
Consistency is a critical requirement for any successful UV curing application, regardless of the setting, whether it’s a small research operation or a
high-volume manufacturing line, or the type of light source, i.e., UV curing lamp vs. an LED curing light. Improper curing of UV-sensitive adhesives can lead
to failed bonds or internal stresses in the adhesive, which can cause unwanted movement and misalignment of components, and poor lifetime reliability. Repeatable,
measurable delivery of a precise dosage of UV energy allows all users to have confidence in their UV curing application.
The OmniCure S2000 spot UV curing lamp system delivers the highest level of consistency and process control. It uses an integrated optical UV sensor in its
Closed-Loop Feedback technology, which provides real-time control over the output of the UV curing light to a precision that cannot be found in any other curing
system. Normally, the intensity of UV arc lamps drop over a lamp’s lifetime, which results in inconsistent curing and/or requires frequent manual recalibration of
the UV curing systems. The Closed-Loop Feedback system has an intelligent sensor coupled with a motorized iris. This proprietary technology continually monitors
the UV output and precisely adjusts the aperture of the iris to ensure the light output is always within +/- 5% of the set point. As a result, each light exposure
repeatedly provides the desired energy dose regardless of the age of the lamp, right up to the end of its life. Once a UV lamp can no longer deliver the required
output, an alarm will sound, notifying operators.
The use of the Closed-Loop Feedback technology in the OmniCure S2000 UV curing systems results in increased production yields because of improved consistency
in the UV curing processes. By avoiding frequent manual calibrations of the UV irradiance levels, to correct for aging lamps, the OmniCure S2000 increases throughput
and reduces the downtime of your UV curing systems and their related processes.
There are several other features of the OmniCure S2000 UV curing system, which provide substantial benefits for users and make it one of the most value-added UV
curing systems available. Its 200W UV curing lamp technology yields outputs of up to 30W/cm2. It has a guaranteed lamp life of 2000 hours with typical lifetimes up
to 4000 hours. Excelitas’ patented Intelli-Lamp chip module automatically tracks the hours the lamp is in use. The OmniCure S2000 has two UV curing lamp options,
including a UV curing light technology designed for acrylic adhesives that may improve a tack-free surface cure. It is designed to seamlessly integrate with the R2000
Radiometer, which allows users to set and calibrate absolute irradiance levels for UV curing systems from a single reference point. By pairing the S2000 with the
OmniCure R2000 radiometer for calibrating irradiance levels, your application can have a UV curing system that is unsurpassed in reproducible adhesive-curing results
and precision light delivery.

UV Sensor Closed-Loop Feedback
Typically, UV lamp intensity will diminish over time which affects the results and consistency of a UV curing process. To automatically compensate for this effect,
the OmniCure S2000 UV curing system was engineered with an intelligent UV sensor loop that continually monitors light output in real-time while making precision adjustments
with a motorized iris to maintain a consistent light output within +/-5% of the light curing system set-point. This proprietary Closed-Loop Feedback technology ensures a
repeatable and measurable doses of energy is delivered with each light exposure, leading to increased production yields and consistent quality.
Closed-Loop Feedback on the S2000 can be run in either relative power or absolute irradiance modes of operation. When the UV curing system is calibrated with an
OmniCure R2000 radiometer, irradiance mode is automatically enabled allowing real-time display of light curing system output.
A PLC/audible alarm warns operators when the UV lamp can no longer generate the set irradiance level. Now every UV curing system lamp can be used consistently to the
end of its lifetime, without the requirement to manually monitor UV lamp intensity.
